These braced wall panels typically require uninterrupted sections of solid sheathing, particularly near the corners of the house.

Placing a large window too close to an exterior corner, or placing too many windows along a single wall, can compromise the shear strength of the building. If your design removes too much solid wall space, a structural engineer must specify alternative bracing methods, such as steel moment frames or structural hold-downs.
