Can I Bolt Together Sections of Joist to Make Floor Beam
I will be showing you how to support walls with ceiling joists and conventionally framed roof rafters.
Next, I will show you how to attach the wall studs to the roof rafters. There are a few different ways to do this, but I recommend using a supporting stud underneath the roof rafter and then one that nails or screws to the rafter. You can also use a strip of plywood or OSB, or a piece of building hardware.
I will also show you how to support the ceiling joists. If the ceiling joists are not attached to the roof rafters, you will need to install something in between the rafters and the ceiling joists, such as a beam or stacked 2x4s.
Finally, use a board that is large enough to support the load, making sure the ground is level, and using a strap to connect the wall stud to the roof rafter.
